No, you shouldn’t have to pour a cup of water into your super reliable Crown Head to flush it. Much like your engine’s impeller, these should be replaced at least every other season.

Genuine Dometic/SeaLand Vent Filter Should be replaced at least every other season or any time the holding tank has been over filled. Don’t let a clogged filter slow your flushes or bulge your tank.
